Accomplished Senior Simon Kalouche Earns Two Awards for Graduate Level Study

Simon Kalouche, a senior in mechanical engineering, has received a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship and an Ohio Space Grant Consortium scholarship for graduate level study. Kalouche, who has worked with Assistant Professor Haijun Su, in the design of a gecko adhesive climbing robot, was also the recipient of a first place prize at the Denman Undergraduate Reseach Forum held this past month.
In addition, he received an honorable mention in the annual NSF Fellowship competition and was presented a 2014 Outstanding Research Award by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Assistant Professor Haijun Su directs the Design Innovation and Simulation Lab.

Kalouche, who will graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering on May 4, plans to attend Carneige Mellon's Robotics Institute later this year.
