Pre-Major to Major Process

Students who have been accepted to the College of Engineering and have declared an interest in mechanical or aerospace engineering are designated as pre-major students. Pre-major students are working towards the completion of the prerequisite coursework. Students may apply to the major once they have completed or are in the process of completing their final prerequisite coursework. Since admission to the major is competitive, it is imperative that pre-major students closely monitor their EPHR (eligibility point-hour ratio) and regularly meet with their Academic Advisor.

Pre-major students are also encouraged to explore opportunities outside of the classroom including Student Project Teams, the Engineering Co-op and Internship Program, and other student leadership experiences.
