American Ceramic Society to honor Gouma
Edward Orton, Jr., Chair in Ceramic Engineering Perena Gouma has been named a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS).
Gouma has a joint appointment as professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She also is director of the Advanced Ceramics Research Laboratory at Ohio State.
A 2013 recipient of the ACerS Richard M. Fulrath Award, Gouma came to Ohio State from the University of Texas-Arlington 2017. Prior to that, she held a faculty position at the State University of New York-Stony Brook, where she led the Center for Nanomaterials and Sensor Development. She has authored or co-authored over 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 20 book chapters and monographs. She also has 18 patents involving nanomaterials, photocatalysts, sensors and breathalyzers.
Gouma will be inducted at the ACerS Honors and Awards Banquet at the 121st ACerS Annual Meeting on Monday, September 30, in Portland, Oregon.
