The annual award, the NRC’s highest granted to an individual employee, recognizes recipients for distinguished service and excellent achievements.

He has led the development of new methods and programs for assessing safety in a wide range of technical areas, while advancing the capabilities of the NRC and other regulatory agencies.

“It was a great honor to receive the NRC Distinguished Service Award,” said Arndt. “My early work in nuclear safety during my graduate studies at Ohio State laid the foundation for my career. I am very proud to work with such outstanding engineers at the NRC and I’m grateful that I have had the opportunity to make contributions that have had such far-reaching impact.”

The award was presented at the NRC’s 38th Annual Awards Ceremony on September 7, 2017 in Rockville, Maryland.
