Ohio State Plays Central Role in Implementing Smart City Challenge

The Ohio State University will be a key player in the Smart City team collaboration.  Columbus beat 70 cities to be named the nation’s Smart City by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Professor Levent Guvenc, also part of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), and Professor Bilin Aksun presented the Smart Shuttle concept with the City of Columbus last week in Austin, Texas, contributing to Columbus’ win.  The idea of the Smart Shuttle is to build a unified, replicable and scalable architecture for connected and automated driving, which can be used by different vendors and can be replicated in different deployment sites and different cities.
