Professor Walter Lempert Elected APS Fellow

After review of his nomination by the full American Physical Society (APS) Fellowship Committee and election by APS Council, Professor Walter Lempert has been named an APS Fellow.

The citation for Lempert's APS Fellow designation notes, "For innovative and insightful contributions to the development and application of optical diagnostic methods for the study of nonequilibrium molecular plasmas and turbulent flows." Lempert's nomination was put forward by the APS Division of Plasma Physics.

Lempert, who has a joint appointment in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, began his association with Ohio State in Autumn 1997. He is also an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a member of the American Chemical Society. Lempert earned his BS in chemistry from Lehigh University in 1975 and a PhD from the Department of Chemistry, University of Utah, in 1981.
