Graduate students from the Mechanical Engineering Department at Ohio State University won first and third-place prizes at the May 2005 SAE Noise and Vibration Conference in Traverse City, Michigan.

Ashley Crowther and Song He, both students of Mechanical Engineering Professor Raj Singh, placed first and third in the conference’s student poster competition. Crowther, a visiting scholar from the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, won the first-place prize for his doctoral research on powertrain vibration. Song He, now a doctoral candidate in the ME department, won the third-place prize for his master’s degree work on the inclusion of quasi-linear hydraulic engine mount formulation in vehicle models.

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Noise and Vibration Conference is a premier event that draws more than 1,000 industry experts, scholars and students from around the world who present academic papers and participate in the poster competition. Student submissions in the competition are judged on both a 10-minute presentation, and the merits of their research.

The Mechanical Engineering Department congratulates Ashley Crowther and Song He for their academic excellence, and for their impressive performance at this year’s SAE Noise and Vibration Conference.
