Kenneth Diller Awarded ASME's H.R. Lissner Medal

Mechanical Engineering alumnus Dr. Kenneth Diller (BSME 1966; MSME 1967) has recently been awarded the H.R. Lissner Medal from ASME for his significant contributions in the area of bio-heat and mass transfer, which includes developing the first cryo-microscope system. The medal will be presented to Dr. Diller during ASME's 2002 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition to be held in New Orleans November 17-22, 2002.

After earning his Master's degree at Ohio State, Dr. Diller obtained his Sc.D. in mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, in 1972. Dr. Diller is the Chair, Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Joe J. King Professor of Engineering, and Director of the Center for Biological and Medical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Diller currently serves on our Department's External Advisory Board.
