Nuclear Engineering graduate student Benjamin Reinke and two other graduate students within the Ohio State College of Engineering are among the eighty graduate students nationwide elected to the 2011 inaugural class of Space Technology Research Fellows. The other two Ohio State graduate students who received fellowships from NASA's Office of Chief Technologist are Kyle Stewart and Nick Host, both of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Reinke's research will focus on the characterization and modeling of neutron and gamma-ray radiation damage in silicon carbide semi-conductor materials and silica optical fibers at cryogenic temperature. The space technology fellowships are part of NASA's strategic plan to build a technological foundation for its future and are managed by the Glenn Research Center, located in Cleveland.
