Metka Takes Second Place in IMECE 2013 Student Paper Competition

Posted:
Ohio State's Matt Metka received second place honors in the "Young Engineer Paper Competition" sponsored by the Fluids Engineering Division of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Metka is advised by Associate Professor James Gregory.

Metka's winning paper, titled "Flow Control on the Ahmed Body Vehicle Model Using Fluidic Oscillators," nets him a $300 cash award. He also received a stipend to attend the 2013 International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) after being selected as a competition finalist earlier this year. The IMECE event wraps up today, November 21, in San Diego, California.

His paper was based upon research he conducted for his undergraduate honors thesis. Metka, who is now a mechanical engineering graduate student and graduate research associate in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at Ohio State in May 2013.
