Kim Clavin Takes Second Place at Innovate {engage} Conference

Posted:
Kim Clavin, an Instructional Development Specialist for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, placed second in yesterday's "Steal My Idea" session during the first day of the fourth annual Innovate Conference, held at the 4-H Center on Ohio State's main campus. The goal of the conference is to discuss fun and creative ways to introduce and use technology in teaching and learning.

Clavin described her presentation as a five minute dynamic, active, fun session on flipping a hands-on lab by using simulated labs. The "Steal My Idea" sessions were limited to five minutes in length and were judged by an audience applause meter. Earlier today, Clavin also hosted a hands-on workshop titled "LabView: Create Custom Graphical User Interface (GUIs) Simulations for Anytime/Anyplace Learning. She is next scheduled to speak at the American Society of Engineering Education conference on April 6 at Ohio State University. That presentation, titled "A Cocktail of Objectivism and Constructivism are Flipped and Blended into an Effective Lab Course," will also include information about simulated labs.
