Zach Riley and Stuart Benton Awarded NDSEG Fellowships

Posted:

Aerospace engineering PhD candidates Stuart Benton and Zach Riley have each been selected to receive a 2012 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship.  The NDSEG Fellowship is administered by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and sponsored and funded by the Department of Defense (DoD). The focus of Riley's graduate research is to investigate the impact of thermo-mechanical compliance on hypersonic boundary layer stability and transition. Benton's research focuses on flow control opportunities and design techniques for increased aerodynamic efficiency in the low pressure turbine.

The NDSEG Fellowship covers tuition and fees for three years at any accredited U.S. college or university that provides advanced degrees in science and engineering.  In addition, the NDSEG Fellowship provides a yearly stipend for living expenses. Riley's advisor is Assistant Professor Jack McNamara and Benton is advised by Professor Jeffrey Bons
