Recent Grad Takes Second Place in Young Engineer Paper contest

Derek Endres, (BS Honors ME 2010, MS ME 2011), was awarded the second place in the Young Engineer Paper contest sponsored by the Fluids Engineering Division of the ASME. Derek's paper entitled "Numerical Investigation of Pulsed Chemical Vapor Deposition of Aluminum Nitride to Reduce Particle Formation," was one of five finalists in the contest. He was awarded a $750 travel award and conference registration waiver to present his paper at the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in Denver, CO in November 2011. Derek's work is a result of his undergrduate honors thesis research, conducted under the guidance of Associate Professor Sandip Mazumder.
 
The Young Engineer Contest is held every year at the annual IMECE, and features research conducted by undergraduate students. For more information on this contest, see http://files.asme.org/Divisions/FED/27708.pdf
