Wang, Canova and Hsieh Receive SAE's 2009 Vincent Bendix Automotive Electronics Engineering Award

Ohio State Assistant Professors Marcello Canova and Junmin Wang along with Dr. Ming-Feng Hsieh have been named the recipients of the 2009 Vincent Bendix Automotive Electronics Engineering Award by SAE for their paper titled, “Model Predictive Control Approach for AFR Control during Lean NOx Trap Regenerations,” which was published at SAE World Congress 2009. The authors' paper later appeared in the SAE International Journal of Fuels and Lubricants.  Dr. Ming-Feng Hsieh was a former PhD student of Professor Wang and is now a Senior Control and Diagnostics Research Engineer at Cummins Inc.  Dr. Hsieh’s dissertation research focused on control of diesel engine NOx aftertreatment systems and he has published over 25 peer-reviewed papers.

The award recipients will be presented with a framed certificate and a medal at the next SAE World Congress, April 12-14, 2011 at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.
 
About The Award
The annual award, established in 1976 and administered by the Bendix Award Board, recognizes the author(s) of the best paper(s) relating to automotive electronics engineering presented at a meeting of the Society or any of its sections, or it may recognize an individual for distinguished accomplishment in automotive electronics engineering. Material or development forming the subject matter of the paper must be based on personal work. In the event of recognition of individual achievement, the individual may be requested to present a Vincent Bendix Memorial Lecture at a designated meeting of the Society.
