Lixiang Yang was awarded a 2010-2011 Presidential Fellowship from the Graduate School.

Before coming to Ohio State in 2007, Yang earned his BS in Civil Engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology and MS in Structural Engineering from Hunan University.  Yang is a PhD candidate and is working on wave propagation in viscoelastic materials, applying linear and nonlinear constitutive equations to model wave phenomena in geophysics and bioengineering fields.

The Presidential Fellowship is the most competitive and prestigious scholarly recognition provided by the Graduate School.   The fellowship recognizes the outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research. Financial support is provided so that the fellow may devote one year of full-time study to the completion of the dissertation, unimpeded by other duties. Recipients of this award embody the highest standards of scholarship in Ohio State graduate programs.

Please congratulate Lixiang and his advisor, Professor John Yu, on this great achievement.
