SAE Aero-Design Competition
The Ohio State University Aero-Design Team competed in the SAE East Aero-Design Competition in Kennesaw, Georgia, Thursday, April 2nd thru Sunday, April 5th.
The object of the competition was to design and build a radio-controlled airplane within SAE specified dimensions, capable of carrying a cargo load for a given motor size, also specified by SAE. Following a design presentation and inspection of the plane by a judging panel on Friday, the OSU team was 3rd out of 43 colleges and universities in the regular class, garnering the third-place design award.
The flying competition wasn't quite as successful as only one flight was completed with an empty load. The team did however rebuild the plane after a crash on Saturday and managed to get in two additional tries on Sunday, but without success.
