Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Receives NSF Fellowship

Posted:

Jennifer Davidson, a graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering Department, recently received a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship. The NSF's graduate research fellowship program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are expected to make significant contributions to research, teaching, and innovations in science and engineering.

Advised by mechanical engineering Professor Rebecca Dupaix, Davidson's research focuses on bioengineering. Her current research interests are related to tissue-engineered materials for use in coronary artery bypass surgery, with a particular emphasis on electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL), a polymeric material that offers promising developments in the creation of synthetic blood vessels.

Davidson's academic excellence has been recognized by a number of awards, including the Quest 2004 Outstanding Undergraduate Presentation Scholarship, the Award of Excellence from the national chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, and the Distinguished University Fellowship from The Ohio State University.

The Mechanical Engineering Department congratulates Jennifer Davidson for her academic excellence, her outstanding research, and for being chosen as a National Science Foundation Fellowship recipient.
