James K. Bass is Named CEO of New Piper Aircraft, Inc.

James K. Bass, a mechanical engineering alumnus, was recently named president and CEO of New Piper Aircraft, Inc. Graduating from The Ohio State University with a BSME degree in 1979, James Bass has served in management positions with several large corporations.

As the president and CEO of Suntron Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona, Bass managed the company’s integrated electronics manufacturing services for the semi-conductor, aerospace, defense, industrial and medical industries. Before joining Suntron, James Bass was a senior vice president at the Sony Corporation, where he managed businesses that garnered revenues of more than $1 billion.

Now the president and CEO of New Piper Aircraft, Inc. (www.newpiper.com) in Vero Beach, Florida, Bass oversees the company's general aviation aircraft production. Formerly known as the Piper Aircraft Corporation, the company has a long history of aircraft manufacturing that includes the “Piper Cub,” a two-seater, 65-horsepower, single-engine plane that is one of the company’s best known models.
