Abstract: This presentation will discuss the current framework of digital control upgrades projects in nuclear power plants and new generation nuclear projects. There will also be a discussion session on career opportunities in the nuclear power industry.

About the Speaker: With over 17 years of experience in Nuclear Plant Design Services, Nicholas Vilione has served in a variety of roles for large plant design changes, complex digital upgrade retrofit projects, and plant system studies.  Mr. Vilione is currently the Vice President and Project Director for S&L’s I&C Digital Upgrade Team, and is responsible for a $30M portfolio of work. He is responsible for the coordination of engineering and design services for several clients, and is also actively involved in business development initiatives for nuclear power station digital system optimization efforts. He currently directs a team of 50 engineers and designers who service multiple large-scale projects for both domestic and international nuclear utilities.  As the domestic nuclear power plant fleet continues to age, Nicholas’ digital engineering team is at the forefront of converting older plant control systems into updated distributed control systems that utilize state-of-the-art digital technology and offer station operators increased reliability, safety, and availability of critical process information.

Nicholas earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2002) and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Virginia.
