Industry is currently moving toward replacing the current centralized approach to turbine engine control with a distributed approach, using digital communications for the feedback loop, instead of point to point analog communications. Digital communications produce a transmission delay when implementing this distribution over a network, with no guarantee of a single lumped delay. Therefore multiple delays must be able to be incorporated into the closed-loop model. This presentation will cover the issues of how uncertainty can propagate when modeling a distributed turbine engine. A technique for transforming uncertainty in the continuous-time system to the discrete-time, based on the sampled-data approach, is proposed. The effect of model-based control states on the final uncertainty will also be addressed.
