Two Ohio State mechanical and aerospace engineering faculty were awarded the Lumley Research Award by the College of Engineering Honors, Honorary Degrees, and Awards Committee at the Annual Faculty Awards Banquet on April 27.

Jonathan Song, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, and Stephanie Stockar, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, were recognized for their research contributions and accomplishments over five years at Ohio State.

The Lumley Engineering Research Awards are presented to a select group of outstanding researchers in the College of Engineering who have shown exceptional ability and success in pursuing research of a fundamental or applied nature.

Song was given this award for his outstanding contributions to his research fields of biomedical microfluidics and engineering-inspired cancer research.

“The award is a reflection of the outstanding research achievements by my students and trainees,” Song said.

Stockar was acknowledged for her research in broad areas of modeling, optimization, and control of nonlinear and infinite-dimensional systems. The goal of her research is to support energy efficiency in transportation and the built environment.

“It is a true honor to be recognized by the College of Engineering for my research contributions since I joined Ohio State. It is serves as a great motivation for my future work,” Stockar said. “This award would not be possible without supports from my amazing colleagues in the MAE department, the Center for Automotive Research, and the Sustainability Institute.”
