Visiting Professors
Dr. Sung Jin An
Visiting Professor
Dr. An is Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Kumoh National Institute of Technology in South Korea. He received his PhD from MSE in POSTECH and worked as a postdoctorial fellow at The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests lie in the fields of graphene-based materials, energy storage materials, nanomaterials, and nanodevices such as semiconductors.
Undergraduate Students
Rachel Hawthorn
Undergraduate Student, Mechanical Engineering
Rachel is working on an undergraduate research thesis under Dr. Jung Hyun Kim in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She is a member of OSU’s electric motorcycle team, Buckeye Current, and has completed a co-op at Harley-Davidson. Her undergraduate research will focus on Si-based anodes for Li-ion batteries. Additionally, Rachel plans to continue to graduate school after her graduation in May, 2020.
Yao Lu
Undergraduate Student, Mechanical Engineering
Yao is currently a junior student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at OSU. Yao has a particular interest on studying the Li-ion battery materials with high energy density for EV applications, and has been exploring a specific research topic for his honor research proposal since Fall 2018 semester.
Xinjie (Vincent) Li
Undergraduate Student, Mechanical Engineering
Xinjie is a junior student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at OSU. He started his research on Feb. 2019, and is currently seeking a research topic for his undergraduate honor research proposal. He plans to graduate on May 2020.
Jianshe Guo
Undergraduate Student, Mechanical Engineering
Jianshe is a Junior student at MAE, OSU. His main interest is developing new electric vehicle through his future career. He always watch the news about vehicle innovations, which inspires him to involve in a research for energy storage materials and system in EVs.
Christian Wengerter
Undergraduate Student, Mechanical engineering
Christian is working on an undergraduate honors research proposal under Dr. Jung Hyun Kim in MAE. In addition, he is a teaching assistant for the ME 2900 class, where he teaches students how to use the equipment in the machine shop to create a cylinder block, piston, end cap, and connecting rod. His resaerch interests are in developing a polymer for solid electrolytes for Li-ion batteries to eventually apply to 3D printing applications. He plans to graduate in May 2020.
John Kim
Undergraduate Student, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering
John is a junior in the Department of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at OSU. He has an interest in electric hybrid vehicles and he is currently seeking research topics to develop undergraduate honor research proposal. He plans to graduate in May 2020.
Chen Liu
Undergraduate Student, Mechanical engineering
Chen is currently a first-year undergraduate student in the Department of Engineering at OSU. She started her research on February 2019 and is currently seeking a research topic for her research proposal. She is interested in studying clean and renewable energy and plans to pursue her future careers in the field of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and EVs.
