Noise, Vibration and Harshness Certificate
The Certificate in Automotive Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) uses an innovative case study approach to enhance critical thinking skills while relating NVH issues to design, manufacturing, material, performance and economic considerations. Concepts of mechanical vibrations, acoustics, digital signal processing and machinery dynamics are integrated into a cohesive course sequence and specialized one-year certificate program.
Certificate Overview
The NVH certificate consists of two graduate credit courses and two non-credit seminars that can be completed in one academic year (August-May, odd years). Students have the option of completing the certificate requirements in two years to accommodate work schedules.
- ME7260 (3 credits) or ME 7261 (4 credits) NVH I (offered Autumn odd years)
- ME7262 (3 credits) NVH II or ME7263 (4 credits) NVH II (offered Spring even years)
A prep seminar also is available to review math concepts and software used in the two graduate-level credit courses:
Non-credit seminar options include:
- Driveline/Powertrain Systems
- Mid-Frequency Vibration Isolation
- Rubber Mounts
- Special Topics in NVH
