Gregory and Co-Authors Receive Alfred Gessow Award for Best Paper

Posted:

Assistant Professor of Aerospace Engineering James Gregory has been notified that he and seven co-authors were selected for the 2012 Alfred Gessow Award for Best Paper by the American Helicopter Society (AHS). The paper, titled “Blade Tip Pressure Measurements Using Pressure Sensitive Paint,” was deemed the top paper out of 230 presented at this year’s AHS Forum.

The work by co-authors Oliver Wong, A. Neal Watkins, Kyle Goodman, Jim Crafton, James Gregory, Alan Forlines, Larry Goss, and Thomas Juliano, was considered groundbreaking in the measurement of on-blade rotor pressures and the evaluation committee recommended that the authors submit it to the Journal of the AHS for possible publication.  It was also suggested that the group's lead author Oliver Wong submit the paper to the European Rotorcraft Forum (ERF) for inclusion in the ERF proceedings.

As the Alfred Gessow Best Paper Award winner, the ERF will pay for Wong's travel to the European Rotorcraft Forum.  In addition, the paper earned an Honorarium  which is provided by the Alfred Gessow Foundation.
